Last year, I visited colleges in ten states
in the United States. I also attended two professional conferences in Indianapolis and one in Portland, Oregon. In January,
I presented college information programs for the Clear Lake High School PTA and the National Charity League. Both were well
attended. I enjoy having the opportunity to share what I know with parents at events such as these.
This year I visited Kalamazoo College, University of Michigan and Michigan State University in January, and Transylvania
University (Kentucky) in March. Each of these colleges has something wonderful to offer to students. I attended the Texas
Association for College Admission Counseling (TACAC) in Houston in April. Next on the agenda will be the Independent Educational
Consultants Association (IECA) conference in Baltimore with college visits to the Naval Academy, St. John's, and University
of Baltimore, followed by the Higher Educational Consultants Association (HECA) annual conference in Cincinnati with more
college visits. Later in the year, I will attend the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) annual
conference in San Diego and plan to tour colleges in the Los Angeles and San Diego areas. Visiting colleges is very important
to me and helps me as a counselor to share what each college is like with my students.
Here's some free advice: get started with this process early. Once the summer is gone, the school year starts and
there are more demands on your student. If you would like to learn more about what I do and how I can help your student, please
