Most of my students start working with me during their sophomore or junior year and over 90% do so on a Comprehensive basis. Why? Because most of them need guidance with the entire college search and application process. And parents want to be relieved of that responsibility. You receive unlimited meetings, emails, and calls. No billing for each hour spent. No buying blocks of hours.

• Review and evaluation of the applicant, academic record, and test score reports
• Educate about the factors most important in the process
• Discussions regarding priorities and preferences
• Choice of career assessment: either the Strong Interest Inventory® or College Success Profile^TM
• Conduct college search and make college list recommendations
• Provide college visit and testing timeline suggestions

• Oversee the essay process including providing feedback
• Update or create resume for applications to highlight skills, talents, and achievements
• Supervise the application data entry and review all applications prior to submission

• Provide financial aid overview and scholarship opportunities

• Review and evaluate decisions/offers and celebrate the outcomes

An hourly option exists for those students with focused goals and direction who only need limited assistance with a specific part of the college planning and application process (essays and course curriculum selection) or for parents seeking additional support or guidance. This option provides minimal attention, is not available for developing a college list, and is offered on a space available basis. Often, I am fully booked with Comprehensive clients so this option may not be available.

Occasionally, students will know which college they want to attend but don’t know what major or career path fits them well. That’s where career assessments are helpful. I offer both the Strong Interest Inventory® and the College Success Profile^TM on a stand-alone basis to support the students in these cases.

The Strong Interest Inventory® is the most respected career planning instrument in the world. It is designed to help the student begin their career and major search as part of the college planning process. The student will take the Strong Interest Inventory® on a computer, answering 291 questions. There are no right or wrong answers. Upon completion of the assessment and prior to meeting with the student, Diane Overman will interpret the results. At the interpretation review session, the student will receive their Strong Profile College Edition and the “Where Do I Go Next?” book.  During the session, the student can learn which majors, internships, campus activities, college courses, and careers match their interests.

The College Success Profile^TM by YouScience® uses a series of science-based brain games to help students discover their innate talents and abilities. The proprietary algorithm then matches them to careers that align with their unique aptitudes. Your Profile will give you insight into “how you are wired” while providing a clear picture of your best options and tools for pinpointing success.  By revealing your unique combination of aptitudes, interests and personality, the College Success Profile^TM reveals where you are naturally strong and most likely to succeed – in life, college, and career. It will help you select majors, and more, with confidence as your interactive profile scientifically matches your unique talents to your best options in school and beyond.
